Knowledge is a commodity in today's world. Every person has access to the world's infinite knowledge at the touch of a thumb.
Intelligence is still as scarce as before
Where knowledge is valuable is in terms of speed and access. People like Nassim Taleb or Bill Ackman who understood the magnitude of COVID back in Jan made a killing in the stock market
Timely knowledge is invaluable
But so is knowing how to develop that knowledge
Unless you understand how you arrived at a piece of knowledge, its hard to know the different ways it can be applied and why it can be applied
I remember being taught how to derive conclusions for math problems back in school. We got marks for each step. But the focus was so overwhelmingly on marks that students would just memorize the steps when they did not understand something
The point of education is not to just know the answer, the point is to also be able to figure the answer
Formal education will make you knowledgeable, not necessarily intelligent
